On my 95' Ranger, I think I have a leak on the master cylinder wiring. On the front of the master cylinder is a wire plug which clips into a piece coming off the front. Not in the service manual at all. When I unclip the plug there is brake fluid in the plug and it's connection. The plug is located above the cylinder. So where is the oil coming from? Some seal I assume, but does the system need to be drained to replace it? Or does the whole connection need to be replaced?
I have a 93 with NO wires coming out of the master cylinder. There IS a wire plug going into the reservoir which is the low fluid level switch. I think it is a magnetic reed switch that reacts to a magnet in a float inside so there is no hole or seal in the reservoir.
Thanks for using FTE!

If you have cruise control, then it sounds like you are referring to the speed sensor switch that is threaded into the front of the master cylinder. It is pressure activated so that when you step on the brake, it will deactivate the cruise control. The switch just unscrews from the master cylinder, but if you get air in the system, it should be bled. If you have ABS, I would recommend you take it to the dealer to bleed the system since it requires special tools to cycle the ABS.
