Not a story about the PSD, but the pre-psd...
My dad had an 89 F-250 5-speed and sold it with 285,000 miles. This truck passed the reliability test. Wrecked twice, oil changed every 10-12K miles, other maintenance was well, almost non existent. It was a hard driven work truck, and when sold, it still ran strong, had the original clutch, and the interior had one tiny hole in the driver's seat. The paint was falling off the outside, since it had only been washed once ever.
Grandfather had a 91 F-250 5-speed that he traded for an 01 PSD. When he traded his, it had 295,000 miles. The dealership thought it only had 95,000 miles, since it was in absolutely perfect shape, and the odm didn't roll over 100k. After the trade, they called him back saying they made a mistake, and gave him $3,000 too much on his truck because they didn't realize how many miles it had. This truck spent a better part of it's life towing a 33' camper trailer all over the 48 states, Canada, and Alaska.
That's my stories. My 02 has about 60K miles, my Grandfather's 01 is right behind me at just over 50K.

My wife's uncle has had 5 7.3L PSD and uses them to pull horse trailers all over the place. Many trips from Tennessee to Colorado, Montana, Wyoming and Alaska. Autos and mauals. He has never had any problems, except for the roundabouts in Vail when visiting us. He sold two with over 200,000 miles on them. The 3 he has now are all autos. His 01 has over 100,000 no problems. His brother-in-law bought a new 6.0 and it ate ***** on the first trip to Colorado this past summer.

I also remember one that was on a website. It wasn't Int., but the guy did deliver boats along the east coast and still had 3 original injectors and never an out of frame repair with 1,000,000 plus.

What's used on these 300k monsters?
On these 300k + monsters, what air/fuel/oil filters, oil, additives if any, maintenance schedule and applications are the keys to their survival and dependability. This information from you guys would be a lot more believable than from any "independent test" or distributor/rep. Those of us who are at 0 to 100k would eat this kind of info up. Thanks guys.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com

last may, one of the diesel mechanics at Ford of Tulsa told me that they had just replaced a motor in a PSD, (don't remember what year though), that had 1.4 million on it. He said that the motor was COMPLETELY wooped. I don't know if he was pulling my leg or not but I guess it could be possible.
