Oh, something about the gov't wanting a cut. Also, they like the idea of limiting the folks brewing up methanoll vs. ethanol and killing all the wedding guests as happens if far off places about every 55 days. (way back in the paper, the small stories along the left edge: "48 die from poisoned liquor at wedding".)
Sin taxes are a big deal, and they don't want you sinning without paying them for the privilege.

the history channel, or the discovery channel had an interesting show on it a few days ago. one guy got busted with the biggest still ever found in the state, which would have brought in $40,000 a month in untaxed profit for the guy. wonder why you cant make it now?
the guy also had to use 2500 pounds of sugar every week ( maybe every month i cant remember ) so how do you buy that much sugar without raising suspiscion???
but for the life of me, i cant figure out where the market is for home made liquor. ive never been to a party where someone offered me a glass of ethanol. its usually a nicely bottled substance, MGD or captain morgan

You aint goin to the right kind of partys. These dont happen in a fancy neighborhood or a college dorm. Go to one out in the woods or in a farmers field, you'll find some. The market is larger than you'd think, just not as visible due to it bein illegal.
Like I said, its not something I would do for a profit, just for myself, but the regs are the same. I just dont understand why somebody can brew beer for their own pleasure but not shine.
