Rough Idle

I am having a problem with rough idle while the trans is in gear and stoped at a light or stop sign. Anyone else had this problem and if so what was done to fix it?? I have had it at the dealer twice now and still have the problem. The first time they changed injectors #2 & #3. The second time they could not get it to do it for them. Could this be a problem with the oil level to high??? It is too high on the dipstick and it's time to change tomarow.

Also the check engine light has come on and gone off twice now. Both times it came on I scanned it for codes with the Predator and it showed nothing.

Well unitll I changed the oil this afternoon it was above the plastic du-dad on the dipstick. And yes, du-dad is a technical term. I think!?!?!!?! Since I changed the oil and only added 13.5 quarts of 15-40w shell rotella oil the engine runs alot smoother. When I drained it, it overflowed my 15 quart drain pan by at least 2-3 quarts. I think the dealership who did the last oil change had no clue to what they were doing.

Well Motown there you go. Yet another dealership that can't read or understand Ford's broadcast messages. I just don't get it.

I wonder if they changed the injectors for no reason...chasing ghosts maybe when all they had to do was drain some oil?

If that's the case, as I mentioned in another thread, I wonder how much of Ford's warranty $$$ / buy backs have been lost to this simple oil issue?

I have started an earlier post on issues I had with my '04/'04 PSD 6L idling rough and am glad to inform the thread that, as of today, they reflashed my truck and everything is ok (after they drained the oil . In my opinion, it would be worthwhile for Ford to let their techs read on this forum on a daily basis, but I guess the problem is they are so overwhelemed and overworked fixing ridiculously simple problems, that they don't have any time to read the broadcast or further their education.

So for our tech's, who do like to read the posts.... less oil is good, recommendation for fuel additive is good, and when in doubt reflash with the latest, as someone up the chain may know something.... AND if all else fails, ASK THE FORUM!!!! Thank you.

Claude
P.S. Sorry about the intensity of this post but 1 week to reflash and drop the oil level threw me for a loop, but I have my baby back, thank God.

I still think it's funny when I go to the dealership and tell the service writer what to check for when they have already had the truck once and no fix. They even asked me once as a joke if I wanted a job becaused I diagnosed a problem with my truck and it was from the info that I read here.

I think the guy at the dealership was equally amazed when I told him I may need the latest flash.

Well I guess I did not knock on wood hard enough because it has started doing the rough idle thing again. Also it has started idle rough immediatly after I start it, then it smoothes out after a minute or so. Anyone else having this problem??

Look at my thread. Very simillar to yours. Got corrected with the reflash and a batteries disconnect. It was given my problems at start and when in gear stationnary.
