Codes 172, 176 to HEGO sensor indicates lean bank 1 and 2.

1)Aren't there 2 HEGO sensors and does each code correspond to a different sensor?

2)I have read that this is usually an indiator of another problem (Vacuum??). Anybody have any experience?

Symptoms are occasional poor driveabilty..like the truck is starved for gas!

Same problem with a 99 3.0 FFV ranger right now, actually, it's even posted on this page.....

i just looked under the hood of mine and noticed a loose hose, hopefully that's it. perhaps you should do the same. otherwise i'm thinking new 02 sensors. heard that a new airfilter might be enough to solve such a problem.

Actually..I tried a new air filter..no luck..but then I disconnected the MAF and..presto..runs like a top!! Tonight I'm going to try and clean it..or then replace it...good luck!!
