Elec fuel pump question
on my 87 f350 I have an in tank fuel pump, I dont here it. I removed the line from the carb and turned the key and the gas just ooozzzzed out, I then put a pressure test to it, and nothing. thus telling me the pump is bad.
My question is can I install an electric fuel pump under the hood w/o having to drop the tank and removing the old one ?

Electric fuel pumps work best/properly "pushing" fuel rather than pulling fuel. Thats why the pump is in the fuel tank. The pump in the fuel tank has a mesh strainer on it that may be clogged. Check the wiring plug-in at the tank to make sure the connections are tight. Your pump relay could be bad. Need to verify if there is power at the wiring/plug at the tank.
BTW the fuel pump assembly with strainer is available at most auto parts stores.
