Have installed a standard, remanufactured, 460, 7.5L, V8 in an F250.
I think it is rated about 250 hp.
It runs good, but if I had a mind to, how would I go about boosting hp?
I do not mean nitrous, ether, or any of that snot-nosed stuff. I mean, are there any fairly straight foward, mechanical modifications that may be made?
Free flowing exhaust, port the intake and the heads, add some cam. If this is an EFI truck, you can only go so far with the cam before the EFI gets cranky. Carb'd, well, the limit is essentially your budget.
Another option is a paxton/vortech type supercharger if EFI-based, and if carb'd, nothing like a 8-71 weiland style roots blower, if you want to consider forced induction.
If you like fabrication projects, turbocharging is also fun.
