How long should a PSD last?Well Not long at all considering it's a "converted gas burner and a V8 design at that.
Naaaa just kidding. Thier is a 95 around hear that has 500K miles on it and hauls 20,000lb trailers. uses less than 1qt oil per 5K miles and has real good compression/ oil pressure so ya 750K-1,000,000 miles is NOT out of the question
long live the 7.3 PSD Gotta go 6.oh
STILL have faileres on the sick litre on 03-05 models there NOT completely fixed better but not fixed failers ranging from cracked turbo housings, faulty injectors, leaky rear seals, stalling and white smoke, spun bearings. The released that motor WAY to early without testing it out completely but chevy and dodge are giulty as well but the 6.0 it by FAr the worst
one 6.0 will outrun V8 comaros and one will stall and buck and get outrun by a VW bus
to many veriations between motors some 6.0's run like raped apes and others well "don't run"
but the 7.3 is an a kick but motor, has 1200HP potential

I've got the '01 PSD 7.3 F250 2wd, 4R100, had it since new. Has 117K on it and just feels broke in. Maintenance is the key with any vehicle, especially the diesels. They like to work hard, but they need good faithful maintenance. It really is a good running vehicle. I just got my new 6.0 '05 PSD same as '01, except for TorkShift and 4X4. Runs good so far, only 3000 on it.
