Greetings all, Having resolved a code 31 on my 1987 ranger 4x4 2.9 with a Wells SU240 EGR Valve Sensor, I would now like to clear the Emission Light that is on. I have tired of looking for the .2" hole with the reset label under the dash as related by the Haynes manual. Any and all help would be sweet. :-( Plz tip me up.
Your looking for a small black or brown box approx 2"+2". If the reset label is still on it you can reset it I just unplug them. Some were by the glove box and some were near the steering column.
Greetings, Thanks for the information. I'm looking for the 2x2 with the .2"hole, ah you already know the rest. Thanks again and when I hit the success side I'll re-post for you. Thanks to all who help.

Well after an uneventfull look for the brown or black 2x2 box with the .2" hole and the reset label, I was wondering if I need to remove some part, glove box, carpet, heater coil etc as I am having no luck finding the reset componet. Do you know the color of the wires that feed it ? Are there 2 or 3 or 4 wires going to the box ? Could it have been removed after some other shop service and now I just have a connector hanging in free space ? This does seem like such a simple thing to do. I sure feel dumb. Next Step ??

Thanks Stuck, I have done the negitive cable disconnect for about 30 minutes and still ended up with the same result, the EMISS light is still on. I have tried the things I have read on this site, but alas the light remains. I have even retested the code scanner to make sure I have a code 11, system passed, I'm just baffled over such a simple thing.... or is it? Thanks again

Greetings, The reset unit for this 87' truck was located above the glove box, remove it first to see the unit, it is a 2 x 3 brown unit with the # 6M12A stamped on it, thanks ranger88, Following the reset proceedure from the Haynes manual worked fine. On this truck the reset will not work by disconnecting the negative battery cable. The unit has a 3 wire connector with the following wires: 1 Black, 1 Yellow/blk, and 2 Red/yel crimped together. Thanks to all for their inputs.
