coil concerns

i recently noticed my mallory coil was seeping oil out of the top while it was hot. i have it mounted straight up and this is the second one ive had problems with. after it cooled down it was dry, do you guys think i need a new one? if so how do you like msd blasters or excell super stocks?

A leaking coil is bad news. I've been running an old MSD Blaster coil for five(?) years now. I bought it new and mounted it in the Ford factory bracket.

Be sure to check the voltage going to the coil. Too much will burn up a coil.

390fe, Insubordinate fingers hitting wrong keys is a major problem for me as well



If you go MSD, get the blaster II...the first version had some issues.

I guess that answers my question. I wasn't sure anyone read those comments... Yep, I had an MSD ignition, but replaced it with a Duraspark. The coil was a leftover part that still worked. Throws out good voltage, too. If you don't believe me, just pull that plug wire while the engine is running! ZAP :-)

im dumb, after i bought a blaster 2 i realized the little screw that holds the elctrode in the top was loose. this is what seals the coil, i tightened it and im back in business. thanks guys, maybe ill keep the blaster 2 for my 460.
