No luck at the places. i even put in a request on the www.car-parts.com web site that links you to all salvage yards in the country. No one had one in stock. I put in a request in and the only replys i get is that no one has one. I would guess there are all damage from rain etc. I also called about five salvage yards all over the country no luck. I guess there are about 15 engine computers for my truck. So the odds are not good. Thanks
I got one at Autozone about 6 months ago for a 86 six. If I remember correctly, it was about $100.00 exhange. The counter man said there were a number of different part numbers. If you pull the old one out there is a parts number on a sticker. Autozone can cross-ref. that for you.

I did try but the oem number off my computer crosses over to a 5.0. Mine is a 4.9. Autozone and vip but had the same problem and there have different brands. Standard and A1 Cardone Brands. I called both company HQ and said they cant match my truchto the ecc but can only match the oem number. I checked my vin and its the orginal computer and engine. Ford said my oem number is not offered for a 5.0. Could be wrong though.. Both store have no return policy on computer, and said if its the wrong computer for my truck both company could not help me.

thanks, I tried the oem number no luck, it come up with the wrong engine. I have a 87 f150, 4.9, 4 speed manual, 2 wheel drive, no ac. So can I can use a van instead of a truck with the same information. Ford and Autozone and Vip. Standard and Cardone technical support ( brands that the stores carry) said it had to go with with the truck only. No returns though if it doesn't work.
Just curious, but why are you replacing the computer? Ford ECMs are very reliable and rarely fail. Not to doubt you, but are you sure that's what causing the problem?

I tried to do a self test with a volt meter and touched the possitive probe to bare metal and hard a load click from the compuoter area. I can not get a reading now for trouble codes. Relays are ok. Everything on the computer seems to work except the (DLC conector) sto pin and the signal return has 6 volts. Readings at the computor are the same. Should have less then 1 volt.Traced the signal return and there are no breaks. Grounds are all ok. All fuses ok. power to all sensors. I can start the truck if i use starting fluid but it runs for 5 to 10 minutes and thats all. Black smoke from exhaust pipe while its running. Maybe it a fuel problem to???
i don't see where the difference would be if you got one out of any F150, van, or whatever with speed density, a 4.9L and has the same tranny.
My Haynes manual has Bronco listed to, under the wiring diagram to. I have 15 choices for computers for the broncos how can I narrorw that down? By my truck options. So a E150 van, Bronco full size and F150 should be the same? 1987 ford f150 4.9, 4 speed manual trans, no a/c 2 wd.
thanks, mike
There are mild differences between the Bronco, F-series and E-series computers for the exact same combination, but the differences are extremely minimal and relate solely to timing. The Bronco has a miniscule more timing advance than the F-series, which has a hair more than the E-series. But the difference across the board is like 1.5 degrees. Nothing to sneeze at.
