Lemon?
2000 Ford Ranger 4x4 supercab xlt 3.0 auto
From time of purchase with 26,000 miles till now with 36,000 miles I have had these problems:
1.Cd player quit working
2.Power windows started to shake excessively
3.Engine would nearly die on occasions when I would floor it and then stop quickly, or possibly at a drive thru (excessive drop in rpm).
4.Engine pings if going up a hill in too high of a gear before downshifting. It has happened on many different occasions(it is not bad gasoline)
The first 2 problems have been fixed under warranty but I'm tired of going to the dealer all of the time with a new problem.
>is considered a lemon?
It may depend on state laws, but it usually involves multiple attempts to repair the same problem without success.

You are lucky, most US made autos have more problems.

Above fixed, -hope they don't reoccur.

-Bad/sticking idle speed control, bad throttle position sensor, would be my first choices. You don't give any other conditions.

Many of these engines ping, -I think excessively. I don't know if they have a knock sensor.

The 2003's are here so yours is ~3+ years old now, And as I said b4 it looks like you may be lucky, I had many more problems with all the vehicles I purchased except my Isuzu.
Thanks for using FTE!
