wheres the oil going?
i have a 1992 explorer that keeps using oil but it does not smoke or leak. I add a little oil every 5 days or so to keep it topped off. has anyone else had this problem or any ideas?

Oil consumption is one possible symptom of loose lower intake manifold bolts. Fairly common to these engines. It can also lead to coolant loss and pinging. It's common enough that I recommend that a person periodically tighten those bolts as a matter of preventive maintenance. Not sure if it's the cause of your oil loss, but it was my first idea.

How much oil is it using? How many miles on the engine? Some oil will slide past the valve stem seals, and vaporize. If it turns out to be valve-related, you have to decide cost of repair vs. how much oil consumed vs. age of the power train vs. how long you intend to keep it.
