Brake Lines

I bought a prebent line set from a company, and I am having trouble figuring out why it is not fitting right. It is an eight piece set. Everything fits great except for the line that runs from the front to the back of the truck. It ends right after the cab. I still have about four or five feet to go until I get to the rubber line attached to the axle. I don't have a good model to look at since the lines that were on the truck were screwed up to begin with.

My question is, does anyone know if the original stock line from the differential valve in the front to the rubber hose on the axle is just one piece? If it is, I must have been sent the wrong line, since these were supposed to be duplicated against original lines. I have a '75 Ford F100.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if I was missing something. I don't understand how they could have come up that short on a line meant for a truck. Hopefully, I will be able to get it straightened out with the company I bought it from.

If I remember correctly on my 77 there is a junction there to another hard line.

You are right beartracks, that line from proportioning valve to the rear hose is a 2 piece line with a connnector in the middle. You can buy brake line's at your local auto part's store and bend them yourself, it is not real difficult to do, unless you are going for the show/original look.

Who did you buy your kit from ,, I was trying to find oem replacement brake lines... and if these are bent to match factory lines that would be good enough for me...

Any one Else ever use pre-bent kits?

What is the connector in the middle? Is it just a rubber hose connecting two metal lines? The line from the proportioning valve ends right before the edge of the cab. The only other piece that came in the kit is a line that can connect to the rear rubber hose on the axle, but there is still about a 20" discrepancy. It couldn't fit to the front piece anyway, though, because they both have male ends. It would need to be a line with two female ends about 20" long. I asked the auto parts store that I went to, and they said that they did not have anything like that.

No it is not a rubber hose connecting 2 line's together, very unsafe and would not last long enough to get a full pedal stop down.

Go to a BETTER part's store, someone that know's what they're doing, if 20"s is what you need they sell a 20" premade line. I think you have 1/4" line? Get yourself a double flared 20" line, they come premade with male fitting's on them, also get (2) 1/4" union's to join this line to your existing new line's. Maybe you got a line kit for a shortbed?

I bought a prebent set of stainless lines for my 79 F-350 4x4 from inline tube, they are awesome!!!!
course the guy there was kinda short with me when I said it was for a 1 ton not a 3/4 ton(they dont offer a kit for the F-350) but they fit like a glove and now I will never wory about rotted lines. Try it you'll like it .

Thanks, ranger429. I didn't think that it was a rubber hose, but I couldn't figure out why it wasn't fitting. They might have given me the shortbed kit by accident.

I didn't have a good reference point when I bought the truck for what the lines should look like. When I got my truck, someone had rigged up a rubber hose coming from the rear axle rubber hose to a point near the cab. They broke off the metal line screwed into the axle hose a few inches from the fitting and broke off the fitting from the line coming from the front. There was a rubber hose in between the two broken line ends held on with clamps. Also, almost all the lines were cross-threaded. That's why I bought this kit.
