mkoser..........How is your town when it comes to writing tickets for those who are oblivious to driving with their lights off? Or driving around with your back up lights wired in the "on" position all of the time? Never did understand that one!
Several Ford Dealers have told me that Ford decided not to go with DRL as an option or standard equipment on their vehicles. That is why we are left with buying the kit ourselves if we want them.
To me, I have enough sense to turn them on and off when needed.
Of course, idiots still pull out in front of me when I have the right of way. I do mean right in front of me. They have done it with my lights on or off! All they had to do was to wait until I passed and they had no other vehicles behind me and then they could pull out onto the highway.
As a former law enforcement officer in my town, operating WITHOUT headlights on (when dark) was strictly enforced. "Strictly" because of the ordinance stating that headlights must be on at all times. I honestly have never heard of anyone wiring thier back-up lights in the on position around here. Come to think of it, I think i have seen in in Minneapolis/St.Paul, but never in northern WI.

With the Ford kit, do only the headlights come on as the DRL's? I want the headlights to come on at 75% by themselves, then the park lihgts come on when the automatic lights come on in darkness.

So you folks are just trying to make the headlights come on automatically when you start the vehicle regardless of the switch position?

Sorry I am coming in on the tail end of this.
Thanks,

They are talking about Daytime running lights. Common on most GM's. The headlights come on dimly, but no other lights (interior, tail) come on.
My two cents: The problem with putting tape on the auto sensor is that your dash lights come on. When that happens, the radio lights dim, may be unable to read stations.
I see... That makes sense! Yeah, in this case, I definately could see the use, because I have had the same problem with reading my radio when I run my headlights during the day, which I like to do. Anyone figure this out yet?
daytime running lights suck when your trying to run your heater at the drive in theater in the middle of the night and the guy behind you has them on blinding you!!!!!!!!!!!!
