Red face Towed by a TRACKER,, need some help!!

My 85' Bronco II has left me sittin' along the road twice now. Its got the 2.8L Carb. The first time it was the roll pin in the distributor, and i do belive it is the same thing this time. It dont' cost much to get fixed, $0.16 last time, but it sure is a hassle,, and besides my friend towed me in his Geo TRACKER !! there isn't many things i've found more embarrising than that.... anywayz what would be wrong w/ my Bronco to make the roll pins break? any help would be appreciated!!

the distributor gear only fits one way, cause the hole is offset.so if you put it on backwards, the roll pin only does half the job it should. Is the gear wearing ok?and make sore the distributor goes in properly
