Question Overboost Indications

Has anybody with the ability to monitor the EGT and Boost pressures ( EGT probe and MAP sensor piggy-back) such as with the Juice/Attitude noticed anything unusual? My alarms are set at 1200 deg. F for EGT and 25.0 p.s.i. boost. Every other week or so, while in a constant acceleration, the dang thing will indicate 56.7 p.s.i. boost for a few seconds and then drop back to what it was originally indicating (i.e. 21.4 p.s.i or so)...

It could be a dirty connection, but all other indications otherwise seem correct.

Additionally, about once every other day, I get an instantaneous indication of 1203 deg. F of EGT for a few seconds and then back to normal while travelling at a constant velocity. The probe is monitoring #4 cylinder and normally indicates equal to or less than 740 deg. F at and below 70 m.p.h.

Ford engineers (according to my Service and Diesel Techs) are looking into the phenomenon, but are stumped at this point.

Neither the EGT nor the Boost happen simultaneously, but it always happens during a constant, light load on the vehicle. All other functions of the vehicle are completely normal, and if it were not for the Attitude's display, I would never have known of these indications.

Jet-A,

Have you checked you Juice/Attitude for problems or loose connections? Does it need a software/firmware upgrade? I would contact the chip manufacture for supports before I would have discussed the problem with my dealer's service department. Just my thoughts.

BTW, nice avatar. You got a King Ranch?

My X-Monitor captures the max EGT, boost, and tranny temps seen since last reset.

I don't see any spikes. The maximum values seen are very much in line with the kind of driving that I've done since last reset.

Yeah, I have the King Ranch. The avatar is actually a real photo of my badging. My family keeps kidding me saying that I do not have the correct "ranch" name on the truck and that I must have someone else's truck... I went for the 'Ranch package after I saw an F-150 King Ranch with about 5 years of hard work in the chair and it looked like just a pair of well-worn faded blue jeans...

I have already checked for loose connections and dust/debris and I have found nothing so far. When I bought the Juice/Attitude, I verified that it was specifically for the '04 6.0L PSD, but I will check to see if they had any updates - a really great idea.

Thanks, guys!

They say the attitude has a few issues that are being worked out. You should probably have the connections and the unit checked out.
