hello ford lovers. i am the proud new owner of a 1978 f150 4x4.the question i have to ask is what limitations i might encounter on dropping a 460 out of a 1977 trailor special into my 4x4 in place of my 351 m. also i would like 2 know where the location of the part #s are for the rear end front end and transmission are so i can figure out what parts ive got because i dont have the original doors to get the #s from i believe both of the drive trains are stock for the most part
any help with building my dream 4x4 will be greatly appreciated
first thing to start looking for is a rear sump oilpan then you have to takeoffthe engine craddles from the frame and buy after market ones I"m sure that one of the site sponsors sell these then its a matter of exhaust
the 351 is already pimped it doesnt run ive got the 460 already and i was thinking i could use the springs from the donor truck a trailor special to bring the front end back to ride hight. ive found a lot more sites on this mod and they are saying that the only thing needed is the rear sump and the engine mounts from l@l adn that it might be wise to look into fender well exit exhaust
what about putting a 302 from a grand marquis in instead until i can find another good running motor instead can i interchange the bell housings to make the bolt pattern work??
one thing i have found about this site is that 99.9 percent of what the senior people on this site are awsome with the info that they tell you .it makes it hard to make a choice on wether to do such a swap so one thing i found is let your wallet make the choice
