I have a 95 ford powerstroke with a gazzilion miles on her. The truck will only run 60 mph. The engine will only rev to 2200 Rpms in overdrive(5spd). With the truck in neutral you can rev the truck to about 2500 and then large plumes of whitish blue smoke pour from the exhaust. It doesn't matter if the engine is hot or cold same problem. I also noticed that there is a small exhaust leak coming from the rear of the driver's side head.(It really stinks up the cab)
The truck gets rid of maybe 1 quart of oil in 5000 miles, but is has a drip so I don't think it is burning it. I am thinking the injector o-rings probably need replaced. I did notice a little darkening in the fuel filter bowl when I changed fuel filter.(Thought maybe this was my rpm problem.) Can I do this myself, both the internal and external rings?
I pulled the injector harness on the drivers side and on the back one there is one pin that is burned and on the front one there is a burnt pin. Are these harnesses available new? WHere do I buy them and what should I expect to pay?
If anyone has and ideas as to what my problems may be I would appreciate it.
I think your on the right track with the orings and connection. Its usally the valve cover side that gets burned and if it the gasket they are available at fordparts.com. Not sure where to get a harness if thats what you need. I think the gaskets are under 100$ each side.
Might check with your closest International dealer for the harnesses. I bought mine from the Ford dealership since my closest IH shop is 65 miles away. Two harnesses & one gasket was $160 +/- for one side of engine.
