I have a 1970 f-250 camper special with a 360 / 3-speed auto
there are 2 linkage rods coming from the tranny can anyone tell me what and how to adjust the linkage from the tranny to the carburator.
thank you for any and all help..
One rod should go up to your carb. It'll be the one that is the biggest around. I don't believe there's any adjustment in it. As to the other it goes to the linkage arm at the bottom of your steering column. Make sure your shifter inside the cab is in park. Then make sure the tranny is in park, you may have to hold there while you snug up the nut onthe the linkage below. I found that if you keep steady pressure on the shift lever where it comes out of the tranny while tightening every thing up you can get rid of alot of that annoying problem of having to hold up your shifter while starting your truck. Hope this helps

The way I adjust the kickdown rod (the one going to the carb), hold the throttle in wide open position and see if you can still move the kickdown rod a little further. Adjust the stop screw until you have about 3/16-1/4 inch gap between wide open throttle and the stop in the tranny. Then drive it and when it reaches 3rd gear, floor it to get it to kickdown and make note of when it shifts to 3rd again. You may need to adjust it one way or the other but it will get you close.
