Anyone Change Their Fuel Filters On 03 6.0 Ps, If So Was It Difficult And Did You Use Motorcraft Parts Or Other Brand, At What Mileage? Any Help Would Be Great. Thanks Z-man
did mine on my 04 at 15k miles, Used the Ford Brand filter, took a little bit of a diesel bath under the truck but not to bad,, I put tin foil around the HFCM and channeled it into a bucket and then slowly loosened the filter cap. the other filter on the engine very easy however I did find that the base of the old filter(Plastic piece and rubber Grommet) was still on the shaft, removed them, installed new filter.. Took about 20-30 min to do both,, definity not worth paying the dealer to do. just my .02,,
did mine at 30K--never had the light come on, and no water when drained. If you ease the drain plug out, let it drip and catch it, no mess. Some have said you can use a milk carton cut in half to contain the diesel. Let it drain thru the small plug until nothing else drips, and when you pull the large cap off, it will be empty. If its a 4x4, the process is a little harder because of the front driveshaft clearance. If you don't catch the drips, they will drop on the frame rail and run downhill.
