Thank you to all who post, run the site, run down vin numbers, and the wonderful moderators on this site. Been away from the site for a while, (thats good news, truck has been running great) thought I would come back and take a look at the superchips thread, and the predator thread. Anyway I ended up buying the Superchips tuner (had it in stock and going on a trip tomorrow) absoutly love it so far.
Now for the thanks to the specific problem. My wife and I were trying to evade Hurricane Ivan and decide to head to Georgia. While on the way form Tallahasse FLA.to Thomasville GA. heard a loud bang, and loss of power. The wife thought we lost a tire on our travel trailer. Told her nope, the turbo intercooler hose just blew off. (learned of the symptoms from a thread posted here.) Was a minor inconvience, lucky enough to have left my harley tool roll in the truck. The way I ended up keeping it from blowing off again was I took a channel lock and put sort of a flare (albeit far from perfect) to stop the clamp from rolling off the end of the tube. It had just come out of the shop for the 30,000 mile service, and the tech probably tightened the dog **** out of it, which caused it to roll of the end. Have not brought it back, no more problems out of it with about 2000 miles since the incident, anyone here herd 0of an upgrade kit or after-market replacement for these hoses and clamps?

Hey Bubba,
Glad to hear we could help. There is actually an updated intercooler pipe. It is actually suppose to have the ability to "bond" with the boots. My dealer ordered me one about 2 months ago under warranty. I suppose it took about 2 days for the part to arrive. They did replace both pipes of the system with the updated ones.

The use of ***** is strictly forbidden, it is considered masking profanity.

the 8 year olds now are exposed to WAY too much !!!! IMHO
Intercooler Hose Blow-Off:
If one of the hot side intercooler hoses blow off it will cause the truck to exhibit a low power/low boost condition. To service, replace the hot side intercooler pipe/hose assembly. Clean the hose mating surfaces to ensure the hoses will stay in place. Seat the hoeses completely onto their mounting surfaces before tightening the clamps to 9 ft/lbs. Test drive the truck while monitoring the boost pressures, which should be 22-25 PSI. An overboost condition will cause the hose to blow off. Broadcast Message 1099.
Single alternator trucks: 4C3Z-6C646-BA
Dual alternator trucks: 4C3Z-6C646-CA.
On 2004 trucks that exhibit the cold side hose/pipe blowing off at the intake manifold, this may be due to the clamp being under torqued or damaged. Clean the outside of the intake manifold inlet and the inside of the hose or pipe. Inspect the clamp, and if it is damaged, replace it (trucks built from 12-15-03 to 4-1-04, P/N 4C3Z-6F081-AA; built after 4-1-04, P/N 1C3Z-6K786-BA). Seat the hose/pipe onto the intake manifold and torque the clamp (6 ft/lbs 12-15-03 to 4-1-04; 9 ft/lbs after 4-1-04). Broadcast Message 1329.
thanks,, Is there a replacement tube for the cold side? I've seen 03 and 04 trucks with a metal tube from the intercooler to the manifold? Mine is plastic.. it has never blown off but was leaking oil where it connects to the intercooler. Since I removed, cleaned and retightened it has been fine but I keep seeing pic's on 6.0's with a metal pipe. Any idea's?

Yep yep yep, my dealer replaced both sides with new fancy and shiney tubes. I'm sure your dealer can get them too.
