Drive shaft replacement?

If you need a trail fix for your rigs, my buddies and i conjured up the idea to find an old shaft or bent one and reuse the ends (yokes) but use square thick wall tubing. One end would be like 2.5" inside diameter and the other would fit inside it with a 2.5" outside diameter so they could slide within themselves. Just enough to get you home hopefully, and slowly.

It pays to have your best friend work and a spring and driveshaft shop- he also burned out all of my spring bushings, and replaced a leaf for $30..
btw, there is a thread on pirate about those square driveshafts.. some guys actually use them on the front of their rigs permenately... just don't go fast..

Remember too, that wall size for wall size, square tube isn't as strong as round. Theres one pic with a guy running a square driveshaft that he candycaned over there somewhere. I see using square stock for dl as a temporary fix only, but yea, I guess if you trailered it to and from the rocks it doesn't much matter.
