It will cost a bit more to begin with, but will last for the life of the truck, provide better filtration and marginally more power and fuel economy.
Despite some claims, it wont get you a whack more power, or save you enough on a tank of gass to buy you a beer, but IMO it's worth the cost.

What I can say is I've been running them on my '97 Camaro since new (and I still have it) and my '99 Astro Van (traded it in for the truck) and never had any MAF problems. Both vehicles use MAF fuel injection. I've also had one on my '03 F150 since new.
The only problem I could think of is possibly if you over oil them, you might get some oil contamination on the wires of the MAF sensor, but you would easily be able to clean that.
All I can say is I've never had a problem.
