Pre-Luber

Has anyone here installed a Pre-Luber oil pump system on their 6.0? I have one on my 7.3 and think it is a great accessory. I have a new 6.0 KR on order and am wondering if there is a port where you can plumb the oil pump pressure side in pre-filter like there is on my 7.3.

Thanx

What brand kit do you have for your 7.3?

The brand is Pre-Luber, I bought it off their web site at www.Pre-Luber.com. It is the Turbo Pre-Luber version. I have been very pleased with it. Only down side is it makes a pretty loud howl when it runs and will probably scare the cr** out of your service tech. One warning if you get one though, try to mount the unit down low near the pan. The shop that installed mine for me put it up on the driver's side fender well and it can take quite a while to catch prime and start pumping when it is cold.

I like this unit because it comes back on and runs for a selectable amount of time after you shut the engine down to provide oil to the turbo while it spins down.

HDCarl, Yes I have a pre-luber on an '04, 6.0, F-250 & is the first mod I did if I remember right. I've used them for 1 boat & 2 cars & my 250. Any good pre-luber is a great idea. I live in Detroit area & was sick when I bouught the 6.0 last Nov with the 15-40 dino. The truck seemed to take forever to move oil pressure needle. I took care of that problem soon & been smiling since.

I also have the Oil Guard bypass filter system too. The reason I mention it is that I have installed a tee on top of the oil filter cartridge. One end is 1/4" flare for the Oil Guard sys & other end of tee is 3/8" flare where the pre-luber pressure side goes to.

Best part is when I shut down engine the controller card for pre-luber runs for about 8-10 minutes (which I set) & the bypass filter is cleaning the oil down to about 1-2 microns while the oil flowing through engine is taking heat away from turbo etc so I don't need engine running like thoses timers do. If you'd like a pix of my tee setup, let me know & I will digital camera it.
You should have done the pre-luber install yourself. The installer didn't read book or was lazy if he installed it above oil pan by much. Mine is just above rail. Let me know. Rick
