This has probably been asked a million times. Is there a performance chip, module or tuner that will not void my warranty. Or is there at least something that can be be un-installed prior to servicing and leaves no trace? Thanks in advance.
Maybe I'm missing something, but when I read those stickys (I only read the top one)no where did I read that they wouldn't void my factory warranty, nor did they state that it wouldn't leave a trace that can be detected when serviced.
unfortunately the site search capability has been removed. Those threads are each about 100 pages long (printed) and it's covered several times.
The consensus with both of those products was that: they both would void your warranty if you took the truck to the dealer with the programming in the truck. The solution? reinstall the factory tuning prior to service. apparently the switching of the programming looks like a simple battery disconnect to the dealer. Both users' manuals explicitly state to do this. http://www.diablosport.com/Downloads.php#Documentation (PDF) and http://www.superchips.com/html/insta.../0115b1704.pdf
The search feature was a major loss... I've noticed in the short time I've been here that posts are getting repeated. Hopefully this will be remedied soon.

If your concidering a tuner, chip or anything that can make for a running change there's 'always' the chance that a dealer/Ford could refuse a warranty repair if a failure could be pinned or proved to be the cause.. They can't void your warranty, but could/can deny a claim for the failure/repair.. If you use a tuner (not that I have one mind you ) and you return to the stock programming 'with' the warmup/drive cycles completed, there won't be any issues or traces to lead Ford to believe you have the mod.. However, running extreme tunes/power enhancement can leave physical traces, as far as heavy fueling/advanced timing.. The great thing about the programmers is that the tunes can be swaped anywhere or time.. No tools involved.. Like, just before the tow truckshows up if there's 'god forbid' a problem at a unoppertune time.. My 03 has been a bit of a dealer queen, and has been worked on many times, without its 'sheet's being pulled..
And, I just sold my older 03-04 tuner to a friend.. He's smiling now, and asked what I paid for it, and was going to give me just that, full price.. Thanks to Motorhaven, I just lost 50.00!! OR, did I save ??? Too confusing
