I have an 04 Ex and a Prodigy trailer brake controller and I'm trying to figure out where to mount it. Does anybody have any suggestions or pictures of their setup? I've thought about attaching it to the fuse panel under the steering wheel, but I'm not sure if I'd be able to operate it very well from there. I've also considered the area under the little cubby hole, but I was planning on using that area for either additional guages or a satellite radio controller. Anyway, I'd just like to see what others have done for some ideas. Thanks!
I mounted my prodigy under the cubby. Works out well. I have heard others cut the back of the cubby out and mount it inside the cubby.
For the F250-350 trucks (may apply to Excursions) You can purchase the three gauge (pyro, tranny, boost)setup that replaces the stock cover on the windshelid support arm, sometimes has a Oh crap handle on it. Pretty sweet setup.
I have never really needed to adjust mine while in tow. Usually make small adjustments while stopped. If you need to hit the manual lever you don't even need to see the controller to do that.
I've got mine mounted under the cubby, too. It's not in the way and you can easily reach it while driving. If you want a pic, let me know. The picture will give you an idea if this will be a good place for it or not.

If you have a picture, I'd love to see it. I will probably end up doing the same thing with my brake, as it seems to be the best place for it. I think that I've decided on the x-monitor gauge for the A-pillar, so that I can keep the stock handle. A bad back dictates the need for a good way to climb into the cab... :-)
I also set mine below the cubby. I need to adjust mine very often. When I deliver a load of firewood, the loaded trailer weighs almost 10K pounds. For traveling speeds, I set the controller so that the trailer leads the X in braking. But at low speeds that locks up the trailer bindings leaving black streaks on the customers driveway or bare strips in the their lawn. So when I get to the customers house, I reach down and shut off the trailer brakes. So that location is very convenient.
I mounted a scanner/CB on the hump...with a small bracket from a cb shop...very clean install...then I mounted the brake control on top using a velcro strip. It looks good, is functional and easy to reach if needed with No holes in the dash...
Thanks all...I decided to go ahead and mount the brake controller in that location, though I used mirror-hanging adhesive in case I change my mind later on. It works out great there, within easy access/view. Thanks for all the input!
Here's a few pics, yes, she's dirty. The speaker under the controller is for a hands free phone kit. The gages are trans temp (easy) and oil temp (hard).
Good pics Termin8r, looks like the same setup I have - just with different equipment. I posted pics in my gallery...I don't know how to put the pics on the forum yet.
