check engine light

check engine light

someone told me that if the turbo starts getting to hot the check engine light comes on on the 2000 and up models i was just wondering if this was true or if anybody knows, and yes i have gauges on order but there back ordered and it will be three weeks and i pull daily with it so i do care about it for u smart *****

Not 100% positive but don't think thats true, or at least I haven't seen it or heard anyone mention it. I tow pretty hard and although I have seen 1300 on occasion, i've never set a check engine light. There isn't a temp sensor or probe anywhere on the truck for measuring EGT or turbo temps.

I don't think anyone who says you need guages is trying to be smart. There are a lot of people who don't realize the damage which can occur from not being able to monitor the engine. Anyone who says you need guages, aside from being right, is just trying to help you protect yourself.
