blower control

I have an intermitten problem with the blower motor not working on a 01 F250 PSD. I have checked the fuses and relay, but what is throwing me is that sometimes it will work, sometimes it doesn't. When I was digging into it today, it was not working with the fan control on the 2nd or 3rd setting, I shut the driver door and it kicked on. This is leading me to believe I have a loose connection, but I can't seem to find it yet. Any ideas how to track it down? I didn't get in behind the fan control switch, I couldn't figure how to get the dash apart. It seemed like something was going to break if I pulled as hard as it felt like I needed to.

Thanks,
Eric

You can check the switch connections, and also look around the air plenum for a decent sized plug that plugs into the side of the air plenum. Sometimes they are in the plenum under the hood, and sometimes it's located in the plenum inside the cab. This is the resistor for the different speeds. They mount the resistor pack in the plenum so air will flow over it and keep it cool. You may have a loose connection there also. Also, if your plenum is plastic where the fan is mounted, check the wire that grounds the fan to the body.
