frame flex?

hey all! i now have my 73 f100 2wd shorty stripped down to a rolling chassis. sometime during the process, i thought i saw the frame flex torsionally. am i seeing things or is it supposed to flex some? if so, then how much? if not, then how should i brace it? the frame looks to be in excellent condition also.

thanks

Some flex is normal, how much will depend on the truck. Keep in mind, the less you have bolted to the frame, the more flex it will have. If there was no flex, suspension would need to have a lot more give and travel to keep the wheels on the ground in off camber situations.

you have an f100, i've seen f250s flex a pretty good bit as well. so, going down that far in weight class, i can only imagine that there would be a good deal more flex. i've had my highboy frame probably flex as much as 3inches, and this was under a pretty good load on the front ( i took some steps at an angle to see how much it would flex) i made it up 3 steps before i had to stop because of the wall at the top of the sidewalk.
