I have a 1997 Ford Ranger XL single cab with a 3.0 L V6 and auto trans. It has 149,000 miles and still runs pretty good. Currently it is stock everything, but has had all the necessary tune ups preformed on it. I drive 40 miles to and from work about 4 days a week, also i drive about 15 miles to and from school 5 days a week, and then I drive it everywhere else since its my only vehicle putting roughly from 275-350 miles a week. With the condtions i drive in and such I get anywhere from 16.5-21 mpg with my average about 18.5 mpg. I was wondering is there anything that can improve my preformance as far as power, or is there anything that can improve my mileage or help it in anyway, and is there anything on the market that could do both. I do have a small budget as far as add-ons for my truck, but any feedback about what has worked and what hasnt would greatly help. And if anyone post and mods that might be a choice, please explain how or how i can find out how to preform it.....thanks
I have been hearing ads latley for a product called motor silk. It is a fuel, engine and trans treatment. Ad claims 20-30% better mileage and performance. Have not tried it. I have used Lucas oil treatment in a Jeep and picked up about 1MPG in it. Problem is you need to add it at every oil change. Gets pricey. My friend swears by synthetic oil. Claims mileage is better and does not have to be changed as often.
