alarm

i have a 2000 ranger, pretty well loaded. it has keyless entry, but no alarm. the module in the kick panel says keyless/alarm module. Dodges have the same setup, but if the vehicle gets the alarm option, it is activated by handheld computer. is there a way to activate this in a ranger, or do they just use a generic sticker on the module? thanks.

When you press the Panic button on the remote lock/unlock does it sound and the lights blink? I beleive if you have Keyless you have alarms.

yes - panic works. if i hit the lock twice, the horn honks/parking lights blink, but if i leave the window down and unlock the door, the alarm does not sound.

When you unlock the door it turns off the Alarm. Does the Alarm indicator blink after you lock the door? If it does it means the alarm is active. I don't know of any other way to test it... but its a good question.

The alarm takes a while to arm. If you lock the doors with the remote and the window down and leave it set for a few minutes, then reach in thru the window and pop the door open the alarm should activate.

Do not agree with above. I also have 2000 XLT s/c LOADED and mine is automatic. Yes, light blinks on the dash showing its activated and it is instantaneous.

Hi there
I believe that when you hit the lock button twice on the remote to get the horn and lights to blink the alarm is armed. to test it unlock the door with the key and it should set the alarm off. Thats how it works on my focus

The light blinking on the dash is activated as soon as you turn the ignition to the off position and informs you that he passive anti-theft system is activated. The actual alarm, if equiped can take 30 seconds or longer to become set. But what do I know....I only sell the stupid things.

I have a 97 Ranger. The way I checked my alarm was to pop the hood, hold down the alarm switch and lock the doors with the remote. Let the pin up, and the alarm sounded.
