It will come off. It is held up with metal expander clips that fit into square holes. Get a good grip on either side and give a good firm downward pull. Don't jerk, there is only a small amount of slack in the wiring for the dome lights. Putting it back up is just as easy, line up the front clips with their coresponding holes, align the back ones and snap it back into place.
