My friends Eddie Bauer 99 explorer /w 4.0 will now let just the rear wheels spin in the auto mode but the HI & LO still work.
Is there a fuse or slip sensor that could be out?
He actually likes being able to peel out in 2H now but other things like the factory subwoofer is dead and he getting tranny slip, although it never acts up when I'm around. But he says once in awile when up to temp he'll put it in D or R and it takes some time for it to kick in. Is it too late for a tranny flush? He's got over 100K on it.
I keep forgetting to check the fluid when I'm with him in the explorer so it could be fluid level but thinking torque converter or bands and maybe a fuse that runs the Auto 4x4 and sub ?????
I'm not familiar with your year, but my neighbor (who works at a dealer in parts) said my 92 auto hubs have a plastic piece in the auto hubs that tend to fail. They haven't yet, but my sisters 94 had the auto hubs removed and manual hubs installed a couple of years ago. Seems to work okay.
In a recent post someone mentions the factory subwoofer not working. I am not sure mine works either. Can someone explain how the system works and if theres an onboard amp????
