Airbag light

Yesturday, I drove about 100 miles, and I stopped for gas. When I started my 99 Ranger, The Airbag light started to Flash 2 - 7 it did this 3 times, and then the light stayed steady. Does anyone know what a 27 means, or where I can find a listing of these codes. I find it odd that I had just drove for a while, and then when I started it after being off for 10 minutes that something broke. What ever it is sensing It turned off the light for the passanger side air bag, That light is always on, because I have the airbag turned off, and now that light is also off. Any help is appriated

Airbag light

Actually I just checked a manual, It says take it to a dealer... The airbag is a small bomb that should not be messed with.

Thanks for using FTE!

Airbag light

Either the passengers air bag light is defective or there is a short. This is best left to a pro for repair.

Airbag light

Actually you were correct. On another site, I found that the 27 means that the passenger on/off light burnt out. I took the switch out, and opened it, there is a small ciruit board with the on/off switch, and the light. I tested the light with my fluke, and it was bad. I need to get to radio shack to get a new bulb, but to make sure this was the fault, I solidered in an orange chrismas light bulb (6 volt) and it works now. My airbag system is functioning properly, and nothing that I did was even close to being dangerous. Why would I take it to a dealer, to replace a light bulb?

Airbag light

Had this same problem a couple months ago. Ken told me what code 27 was for. Went to Radio Shack and bought a small 12 volt bulb....soldered it in and no problem since. :-X12

What other site gave you the info?

Merry Christmas All !!
