Have a 1993 Aerostar and have to replace the rear end. Need to know what size ring gear is in it. Using th VIN, can (or will) the dealer be able to tell me, or how do I find this info. Thanks
ended up calling dealership for info. said tag on differential housing has info. sure enough, 7.5" ring gear, 373 ratio. local "used parts" place wants 450.00 for a used rear end, 90 day warranty. is this good? normal? too high??
Just bought an Aerostar rear assembly yesterday for $150. They come in 7.5 AND 8.8. The 8.8s are a little harder to find, but I found one. I think they were used in 2WD 4.0 liter applications. I was looking for an 8.8, 3.73 and couldn't find one. Anyway, I guess you just want to replace what you've got. Hey, wait a minute, I have just what you're looking for. I'm replacing my 7.5 with an 8.8 because I have a special 8.8 differential I want to install, but there is nothing wrong with my current axle. I would be happy to get $125 out of it. You would also have to pay the shipping. It's a 3.73, 7.5 with 104K miles on it and no sign of problems. Let me know. I live in Fort Wayne, IN. (I don't know if this forum allows any selling so please Email me if you can.)

Let me check around here some first. I live in Akron, OH, so I don't know how a long drive that is. But I may need it.
