I removed the heat shield pins, oil line, and intake parts, but cant get it off the block because I could only find two oblts for the mount on it. How do I get it all the way off?
i bet that 3rd one is hard to get to. i would try taking off the crossmember under the tranny, and letting the tranny/engine drop down together, but don't let it hit the ground, just enough to get your hand up in there, it will make it a lot easier. make sure no wires are going to stretch out and break on you!! that would be a nightmare
well, if its like mine was, theres 2 on the right and one on the left. in a triangle shape. its been a long time since i messed with i can't remember exactly. but if you look at the left cylinder head, you can see where the 3 bolt holes are (there is probably stuff mounted there) but it will be an exact copy on the back of the right head. (the left head is the same as the right head just turned around backwards)
So your saying the right head is symetrical to the left head, just reversed? So the turbo bolt pattern would be on the side facing the bumper of the right head, correct?
My turbo is mounted more to the center. One of the bolts went into the snail like air piece, one felt like it went into or onto a mount on the (in tube) exhaust, and the other I forgot. The mount is also a return oil tube as well. Any help?
Also, two of the heat shields are off of the turbo section, but none other than those two because I dont want to screw them up and they would have to be bent to come off.
How much is a 3" turbo down pipe from ATS or Banks? I think now is the prime time for that and gauges.
your turbo is different than mine. the stock turbo is only good for like 5 h.p. i have seen 4 trucks that gain power when the stock turbo is taken off and just ran straight. i'm saving for a banks turbo now, 2400 bucks for the whole kit, im thinking about running my own exhaust and using that money to buy an intercooler.
Yeah, factory turbos suck, but I think they get more than 5 hp. On the 93s and 94s they are just as good as any other (or at least close enough) if you get a exhaust housing with a 3" down pipe, then turn up the blow off valve. Factory only gets like 4-6 psi of boost, when you can safely run 17 psi on IDIs.
