to clean the EGR valve, just take it off and douse it with carb cleaner. Just be sure to use a new gasket between the EGR valve and the UIM. It has a tendancy to leak if you reuse the old one. Also, be VERY careful when taking the nut off between the EGR valve and the EGR tube to the exhaust manifold. The EGR tube gets very brittle after a few years and will easily snap if too much force is applied to it. It's about $40 for a new one form the dealer - you can't get them from a junkyard because the junkyard guys will break them trying to get them off too.
I have cleaned the MAF - didn't seem to make much of a difference. When the truck does "act up", it happens immediately upon start-up. Plugs and wires are next on my list of things to try... maybe the EGR as well.
