Thanks for the info. I thought this was the case, since I have tried burning MP3's in two different formats and could not get it to recognize the cd. It comes back and says "CD ROM DISC" or something close. You'd think by 2004, all cars/trucks would have this feature.
I was on a dealer lot lot yesterday and saw a 2005 Screw Lariat with 6 CD. It was listed on the sticker as 6CD/MP3 and it showed a logo on the radio itself. No where did it say anything about audiophile. The truck was built in KC.
I am dissappointed because I have the printout from the dealer showing all the features (and prices) and the VIN but it never mentions anything about MP3. I haven't actually got my 2005 FX4 (which is a nother thread entirely). I will be ticked off if these units are being shipped with the cheaper stereos first.
Ford told me to call a company named Visteon, they make the audio systems for Ford. A representative called back and told me that Ford did not want MP3 capability in 2004. Visteon's number is 1-800-367-3333.
