NEW FORD POWERSTROKE 7.3 CAM SENSOR CPS 97-03 : eBay Motors (item 160407134368 end time Mar-23-10 20:06:37 PDT)
* Describe the "rough idle" (ie. when first started, after driving, how about outside temp does that make a difference)
* How many miles are on the truck, any mods on it, has the maintenance been kept up?
* Why did you replace the Injector Driver Module (IDM) (that is what you meant by the Injection Control Mod right, behind the driverside fender)
* Can you tell us more about the "harness" you replaced? (which one, why)
* Do you have the ability to do contribution testing, or did a buddy/shop do it for you?
* Could you confirm your PSI readings for you High Pressure Oil Pump (HPOP)? 3000psi is about all your HPOP should be able to deliver, stock. 14,000psi would certainly dictate the next GTG to be at your place
J/K* How much fuel is in your tank?
Please don't take all the questions the wrong way, sometimes not only does it help to know exactly what you did, but why it was done. It's more challenging to diagnose mechanical problems over the net, but this site is probably one of the best for success.
My initial conclusion would be:
1- Could be a clogged fuel filter.
2-Your Injection Control Pressure (ICP) sensor, especially if your psi readings were in fact what the scanner read. Try disconnecting this sensor and inspecting the contact area, is there oil in the plug? Also, what type oil are you running, and what is its age/condition, this can play a role in how the truck runs... if it is dirty, or has run dirty oil, debris could get trapped in the Injector Pressure Regulator (IPR) and cause erratic engine operation.
3- Weak/failing fuel pump
Just some things to start with, my focus would be on the psi readings though, your numbers are way out of OEM specs, and Welcome...
