Since my free cell phone won't reach out of the area, my wife bought a tracfone last week for her trip to Phoenix. She is real happy with it, and it is pretty cheap too, yehaw

Tracfone is a pretty good deal. I don't like paying bills and owing folks money so its the easiest way out of that situation.

Although i wish you could get them with text messaging, and perhaps wireless internet.

Tracfones are good if you dont use the phone alot, if you use the phone alot, then it becomes more expensive than a regular plan (Unless you have a REALLY expensive plan). You have to buy a new card ever (2) months i think. I think the best way to do it is to buy the year plan that comes with (100 or 150 cant remember which) units, so you dont have to buy another card all year. Then if you get it at a time when they are offering incentives, you can get double minutes, which is an awsome deal. It acutally turns out pretty good. Plus you arent signed to a contract or anything

I got one because I didn't expect to use it very often... I don't, but my boss and my brother in law call me all the time and eat up my minutes. So I got the monthly autopay plan, for 15 bucks a month you get 30 minutes, but all the other minutes you buy are doubled. I bought 400 minutes for 80 bucks, that automaticaly doubled to 800 minutes, and they threw in another 400 minutes as a promotional deal. So I got 1200 minutes for 80 bucks...let 'em eat those minutes up now! And they do have text messaging. My phone has it, never use it tho. Wireless internet? I dunno....not at those kinds of prices! -TD

I love my tracfone. Wife just got the digital tracfone and it does include text messaging amongst other features that I don't really need. I've been using two real old models of Tracfones for about three years now. A heck of a lot cheaper than any subscription service. At lease for me. Some people can go through a 300 minute card in no time. Then it gets spendy.

My wife and I have Tracfones for all most 2 years and like them very well. We don't use our phones very much anymore due to life style changes.

I picked up a Tracfone since I was tired of paying 60+ bucks for my $40 plan (taxes and everything else under the sun added as fees).

Payed $100 for phone and a year's card on the Tracfone website. That got me almost 400 minutes of airtime with the coupons and deal. At the rate I use a cell phone, I'll probably have minutes left over when I renew in a year. Figured I'll save over 600 bucks for a year. At that rate, I'm going to start shopping around for a new ATV.

Many of the major wireless carriers have similar plans, I know Cingular does. The prices seem to be similar but there are many different plans to choose from.

In my area we're pretty limited; most of the big carriers don't have service here. US Cellular has things pretty much tied up around here, Cingular is useless (No signal) and Verizon is limited. TracFone hitches onto the strongest signal it can find, and whenever anyone with a TracFone calls a number with caller ID around here, it always reads US Cellular. I looked into their available plans, especially the one that features frre incoming calls but they were still more expensive than what I'm already paying with Tracfone. -TD

Bought my Tracfone last night, got the internet deal. Got the Nokia 1100 w/ the free incoming text messages. $49......cant much go wrong there.
I dont like cell phones. As I am spending the winter away from home up north......ofcourse north is relative.
I figure its not a bad idea to have one laying around.

We tried the tracfone a couple of years ago after a bad experience with a contract cell phone and we have liked the tracfone and stayed with it. in fact, my wife just got a new Nokia tracfone and gave me her old one. Prepaid is the only way to go if you don't have to have a phone surgically attached to your ear.
