The right low-beam headlight is out on my 97EB. I changed the bulb but it didn't fix the problem. I also noticed that the fog lights didn't work. I checked the fuse (#8) and it looked okay. I went ahead and changed it any with one (that tested good on an ohm meter) and still no good. The highbeams work just fine. Its just the right low-beam and foglights that are out.
The wiring diagram shows this is wired from fuse 8 to the "lamp out warning module" then to a splice with one wire going to the right low beam & another going to the fog lamp relay. Looks like your lamp out warning module is the trouble maker.
Thanks for the info. I did find an earlier posting (finally) and besides the Lamp Out Module, they said that the multifunction switch (the switch that controls turn signals and brights) on the steering column could go bad and be the cause of the problem.
This started out being intermittent for a couple of days. - sometimes on, sometimes off. Sometimes off and then after a couple of miles, it would flip on. But now it's always out.
This is the EB edition with the center console and message center - is there an easy way to get to the LOM? How tough is it to take out enough of the center console to get to it?
If the multifunction switch was shot both low beams would be out. So i'm pretty sure the LOM is your problem.
Not sure how to remove the center console, but a Haynes manual might tell you. Or maybe one of the other guys will know. Good luck with it.
When you say to "yank it up", do you mean the entire center console or just the message center or what. Before I go yanking up stuff, I want to make sure I'm not forcing something that shouldn't be.
When I helped my mechanic buddy did the blend door replacement, I know it was a pretty involved process to get the entire center console removed. It would be great if I could get to the LOM without going thru that whole process.
