Saturday night, this chapter once again amazed me. Jon and Duane came over to my house to help me put a new clutch in my '80, just so I could sell it. Between the three of us, we managed to turn a 1 hour job (per Duane) into a three and a half hour job. Only here could I find guys to help me out like this and never complain once. I think that we have the best group of guys on this site and I look forward to us getting bigger and better everyday.
Oh, and even though the '80 was sold, don't think that I can go Fordless for too long. I found a 97 this afternoon that I like and I think I'll probably try to pick it up on thursday.
No problem. That's what we're here. Luckily, Duane knew his way around your year. That helped a bunch. And the adjustable clutch was something I knew nothing about.
I think we can blame time frame on an old truck with lots of rust and grease...LOL. That thing fought us tooth and nail to get out but only took about 30 minutes to put back together.
Good luck on the new truck. If your even thinking about family then step up to a 99 extended. It has the four doors..MUCH BETTER. I was stupid and didn't do my research. About 3 months after I bought mine new Ford came out with the four door..
No problem man, like Jon said, the time frame was just a product of a stubborn truck and hunting down the right cluth. But in reality, it comes with the teritory!
I was pretty tired when I got back to Lawrence last night, but the truck I found is a 97 extended. I don't plan on family but it still has the third door on it.
Nope, the block was changed between the 80-86 and 87 and newer. The pan didn't fit. We managed to get mine fixed with an oversize drain plug. I didn't even know they made those. I also had a buddy stop by while we were working on the truck and it will fit his '90 F-150 nicely. Good thing too, he needs a new oil pan.
I agree totally I have been emailing Duane about my wife's (cough) grand ams (cough) transmission problems and this morning I sent him an S.O.S email because I thought the mechanic in which I took the P.O.S was tring to feed me a line of bull and Duane called me today and made sure everything went well and to confirm I wasn't getting hosed. So a BIG THANK YOU to Duane also.
Man, you guys are making me jealous everybody helping you all and I'm getting left out.LOL I agree we have some awesome members and some awesome friends. So everybody out there just keep on doin what your doin. Being in this chapter tells me one thing.......I know that if I never need help or have a question I have people that will always help and/or answer any questions I have. So I would just like to say THANK YOU to all the people in the KANSAS CHAPTER
