i was wondering if a 1991 crown vic aod trans will fit in a 1988 bronco. I know i have to remover the tail shaft and change it over to the tranfercase. Will this work or is this atempt not worth it.
Dammford has a point. Check the gearing in the Crown Vic AOD. There is almost assuredly a difference considering you are going from a car to a truck setup. If the gearing is different enough you will screw your mileage and performance. But its worth checking into considering the number of Crown Vic's floating around out there with nothing better to do than donate parts to a more worthy cause.
if the gearin is lower go for it. if its higher of course pass it up. but you got the idea already on what needs to be done. What motor is going in front of this?
Just a guess but I would imagine you are correct in your assumption about the lower gearing. Would make it easier on the engine moving the heavier vehicle if it was allowed to spin a little harder in the first two gears to help develope the torque to move the truck.
