2.3L w/ 5spd problem

Ok I have a bit of a problem with my 88 ranger. I recently had to swap engines because of a loose wrist pin on the #4 cyl (I bought it this way... the truck that is) Before I swapped motors the clutch worked as far as I know. Now after the swap (I swapped clutch and all intact) I cannot get the clutch to disengage with the engine running. I dropped the tranny last nite and checked the travel of the slave cyl. It is approx 3/8" to 1/2" travel. Is this enough to throw out the pressure plate or not? If so should i be looking in to replacing the clutch assembly?

Any help is appreciated.

What did the donor motor come from?

a 1988 ranger with a 5 spd. just wasn't extra cab like mine.
