I'm installing a Bull Dog remote start system to my 99 ranger 4x4, extended cab. Where and what color is the Factory Alarm Shut Down (FASD) wire? I need the wire to connect to the main module.
It has something to do with the remote start module. The module needs to start the engine and keep it running without the factory shut system engaging because there is no key in the ignition. The instructions from the remote start installation says it is located in the driverside kick panel. I've seen that area and it could take me days to go through each one. The directions say it's a small gauge single wire!
You may wish to check with www.macsautoparts.com or www.tocmp.com/wiring and see if you can get a wiring diagram for your 99 Ranger. Or, too, you can get a Haynes manual for it and it will include the complete wiring diagram. Of course, these diagrams give circuit number and color-coding for the wires for each circuit. (The Haynes diagram is quite good, too, however, the print IS small!)
The later Alarm systems don't really have a single wire you can cut/ground/+12 to bypass the alarm system. They are more complicated then that. I guess to make it ruff to steal them. Anyway I would check with an alarm shop or call the manf for instructions for your specific truck.
