It is for a ranger. I think 85 inchs (7'1") is as long as they make em (the new small one anyways). Just check the ranger history and as far as I can tell, the "long bed is still offered. Cept on super cabs which have the "standard" 72 inch (6') bed.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 13-Dec-02 AT 08:26 AM (EST)]yep, they still offer the 7' bed on some of the regular cab models. so the answer is 2003, depending on what truck you like. I don't think there's any ext. cab's offered with a 7'.
if you go to www.fordvehicles.com and go through the steps to build a new Ranger, you can pick from either a 6' or 7'...but if you choose SuperCab...you automatically get the 6'.
I've checked with www.fordvehicles.com and the only way you can get a 7' box is with the regular cab 4x2 with the 3.0 engine. I would like to get the newest regular cab 4x4 with the 4.0 that is available.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 14-Dec-02 AT 04:50 PM (EST)]This is the stuff that drives us Ford dealers crazy- Ford has made it so damned difficult to order a Ranger the way ANYBODY wants one! I know you could still get a 4x4 w/ 7' box in 2000, maybe 2001, but that would definitely be the last year- it was gone by 2002. Instead of individual options, the Ranger now has 12,000 option packages, and few of them are configurated the way most people want. Very frustrating...
P.S. You CAN get a 4x4 longbed- if you order it through Ford fleet. All you need to do is order 25 identical trucks! Got 24 friends in the market for a new truck?

2000 is the last year you can get the reg cab Long bed with the 4.0L. Heres the link for the engine options for each of the ranger configurations. http://autos.msn.com/vip/engines.aspx?ModelId=9480&src=vip
I infact have a 90 ranger 4x4 XLT long bed, it's nice to have the extra length in the bed and the 4.0L is an awesome engine.

I noticed that thing about the options. They are doing stupid little things like tying specific Radio's to specific models instead of just letting the buyer get what they want.
Want the Single CD/MP3 Player? You HAVE to get the Edge (or XLT maybe). Not an option on the others.
Want the 400+ watt Pioneer system? Sorry, gotta buy the Tremor.
I have no doubt it's a cost-cutting maneuver.
Here's what's really strange. Some of the lower-line models come with step-bars standard. But, you can't even get them as an option on the FX4 4X4's !
