Weird Symptom??
Im not sure if this is normal or not but, when I'm going down the highway I let off the accelerator and it seems like the motor shuts off or goes quiet. When I step back on the gas its like it comes back to life. It dosen't stall it just quits till I get back on the gas. When Im in town it does the same untill about 35-37 mph. If I were to decelerate from 50 mph its quiet then all on its own around 37mph to 35 mph it flickers then its like running again. It dosent stall like where Id have to pull over and restart it. Its not a big problem just annoying

Is it possible that you are feeling the torque converter staying locked up? My 97 does that on deceleration and it's almost like an engine brake. Maybe with your mods it's more exaggerated than it is on mine. It is weird though.

In many overrun conditions (where the vehicle is pushing the engine), a Powerstroke will shut down its injectors because they're not needed. You can hear this really clearly on the T444E - powered school buses, as they coast to a stop to pick up kids. Clatterclaterclater..................silence...... ..........clatterclatterclatter.

What Frobozz said. The injectors are being shut off to conserve fuel. They do the same thing on gas engines too, you just can't hear it then. On my truck the threshold is something like 1300 rpm.
