460 on propane
i am planning on rebuilding my 460 and was wondering how i should build it to run on propane. would it get better mpg running on propane ,has anyone ever done a propane conversion?

I am running my 460 on propane the big thing is get the dist. curved to propane specs, also depending on what heads you are using you may want to install hardened seats. I am using C8 heads with hardened seats and stainless steel valves. Later model heads all ready have hardened seats for use with unleaded gas. Another important area is the ignition I am using a MSD 6al with a blaster coil propane needs a good hot spark. Also heat has a negative effect on the octane rating of propane so cold air intake is important but. and with any engine you need to start with a good motor if your engine is tired or worn out propane will only amplify the problem.

I was about to post this question . I just got a '85 460 out of an f350 today for my 78 f250 project today and CHEAP. I want to rebuild the engine and set it up for propane. It is an offroad rig and needs torque more than hp.
Has any one gone as far as to up the compression to get full bennefit from the propane?
Cams?
What propane carbs work well in this application?
