I think I've finally solved the vibration problem. After reading about all the bad CV-style driveshafts people were experiencing I finally pulled mine (not easy to remove, are they?).
The rear CV was bad. I disassembled it to see what was going on inside and there were marked worn tracks in both the inner and outer races.
Although two of these places say that a two U-joint shaft is the appropriate replacement, the 4x4 SWB Ranger has a double Cardan shaft so I'm guessing that the Duffy replacament would be the most appropriate.
I'd happily pay an additional $100+ to be sure the vibration goes away.
What are people's experiences with these aftermarket driveshafts on non-lifted Bronco II's?
I decided to purchase the $255 shaft from Arizona drivelines since this appears to be the same as the Ranger 4x4 original equipment, and the same as the James Duff shaft, but $100 cheaper.
I replaced mine several years ago with the 2 u-joint shaft. I got it from Dick's Drive Shafts from Arizona. It cost me $180 and was well worth it. Never had a problem since.
