Driveshaft and vibration

I think I've finally solved the vibration problem. After reading about all the bad CV-style driveshafts people were experiencing I finally pulled mine (not easy to remove, are they?).

The rear CV was bad. I disassembled it to see what was going on inside and there were marked worn tracks in both the inner and outer races.

So it's time for a new driveshaft.

I've seen three advertised on the Web,

http://www.jamesduff.com/broncoII/drivetrain.html $340

http://www.mountaindriveline.com/partsdeptbroncomtn.htm $210

http://www.arizonadrivelines.com/stock_drive_shafts.htm $210 and up

I haven't raised my Bronco and have no plans to.

Although two of these places say that a two U-joint shaft is the appropriate replacement, the 4x4 SWB Ranger has a double Cardan shaft so I'm guessing that the Duffy replacament would be the most appropriate.

I'd happily pay an additional $100+ to be sure the vibration goes away.

What are people's experiences with these aftermarket driveshafts on non-lifted Bronco II's?

Thanks for your input.

Richard

Compromise reached

I decided to purchase the $255 shaft from Arizona drivelines since this appears to be the same as the Ranger 4x4 original equipment, and the same as the James Duff shaft, but $100 cheaper.

I put a single cardan shaft on my BII, and it works just fine, since I, too, don't plan to lift mine. A double cardan shaft will also work just fine.

I replaced mine several years ago with the 2 u-joint shaft. I got it from Dick's Drive Shafts from Arizona. It cost me $180 and was well worth it. Never had a problem since.
